Types of natural resources

Natural resources are naturally occurring resources in the environment that have not been disturbed by mankind. By resource is meant any physical entity, which has limited availability. These resources occur in their natural form

The Environment is everything which surrounds an organism and influences its life in many ways. It includes physical and biological components. The physical components of the environment are soil, water, air, light and temperature. These are termed as abiotic components. The plants and animals are collectively referred to as biotic components. All these components of the environment work together, interact and modify the effect of one another

There are two types of natural resources.

Inexhaustible Natural Resource

The inexhaustible natural resources are unlimited in nature, and they are not likely to be exhausted by human activities. Examples are solar radiation, air, water, precipitation (rainfall, snow fall, etc.,) and atomic power.

Exhaustible Natural Resource

The exhaustible natural resources are limited in nature and are liable to be degraded in quantity and quality by human activities. Examples are forests, soil, wild animals, minerals, fossil fuels etc.

In our next blog we shall learn about uses of nitrogen
